WE BEG YOU TO CONSIDER THESE PARAGRAPHS VERY CONFIDENTIAL FOR ALL PURPOSES

 

Sir:

 

A call made by my brother received no answer on the night of 20 January 1967.

 

This may be due to three causes:

 

That a letter sent to you had not arrived.

 

That, the said missive having arrived, Mr Fernando Sesma had taken the option we offered him first, of not accepting our request.

 

That Mr Fernando Sesma Manzano considered the conditions imposed excessively severe, or such demands, or the way we expressed them, harmful to his dignity. Or that he was tired of such contacts, or had received an order or advice from a third party. First of all, and should the last of the preceding causes be the case, I beg that my way of proceeding not be misinterpreted. Unfortunately our psychology is different from that of the men of Earth, and certain of our stances may appear in the eyes of the OEMII of this planet as indelicate, uncomprehending, severe and even rude, when in reality the hidden motivation that caused them had no offensive characteristics.

 

If some of our attitudes are judged severe and strict, they are in reality due to motives of self-defence. Do not forget that we move in a strange and even hostile field, in which all precautions must be taken with absolute disciplinary rigidity.

 

We only ask of the men of Earth who know us favours which they can grant us without enormous effort.

 

My brother DEII 98 son of DEII 97 arrives in Madrid on 22 January 1967. As he is authorised to hold telephone conversations with men of Spanish nationality, he will call you to learn your worthy opinion.
